
This is a classic cranberry sauce (like your mom made!). You can zhoosh it up by using orange juice instead of water or adding any of these extras: pecans, orange zest, raisins, currants, blueberries, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice. It ranks a Good impress quotient as everyone will know it’s not from a can. It’s easy and you can make it well in-advance — it’s a no stress side dish!

12 oz bag of fresh cranberries
1 Cup sugar
1 Cup water
1 Tablespoon orange or lemon zest (optional)
½ Teaspoon salt
Directions
- Bring all ingredients to boil in a medium saucepan, stirring often.
- Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer until most of the cranberries burst, stirring occasionally for about 10 minutes.
- Transfer sauce to a medium bowl. Cool to room temp. Cover and refrigerate cranberry sauce.
